Terms of use
cubip is an iOS app for sharing the trips you have taken and finding someone to take the next one with. It is operated by an individual developer in Taiwan. These terms are the agreement between you and cubip when you use the app. By creating an account you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use the app.
Who can use cubip
You must be 18 or older. People under 18 may not register, and we remove accounts we find belong to them. You may have one account, and it must be yours: you may not sign in for someone else or let someone else sign in as you.
Your account
You sign in with Sign in with Apple, or with a six-digit code sent to your email address. There is no password. Keep your email account and your Apple ID secure, because anyone who controls them can sign in to cubip as you. Tell us at support@cubip.com if you think someone else has used your account.
Verification
You can choose to verify your identity by sending us a photo of an ID document. We look at it to confirm that you are who your profile says you are, then delete it. Verification is optional, but posting a trip requires it. A verified mark means we have seen a document that matched the profile at the time. It does not mean we vouch for the person.
What you post
You own the photographs, records, trip posts and messages you put on cubip. So that the app can work, you grant cubip a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, reproduce and display that content within the service, to the people you have chosen to show it to, for as long as it is on cubip. The licence ends when you delete the content or your account, except for copies we must keep for the reasons set out in the privacy policy.
Only post what you have the right to post. Photographs must be yours or ones you are allowed to share, and people in them must be all right with them being shown.
Rules
cubip is for people who want to travel together. It is not for anything else. You may not use it for:
- commercial solicitation of any kind, including advertising, recruiting, or offering paid services,
- sexual content or sexual solicitation,
- harassment, threats, or abuse of any person,
- scams, fraud, or asking people for money,
- impersonating another person or organisation,
- anything illegal under the law of Taiwan or of the place you are in,
- registering or remaining on the app while under 18.
You also may not scrape the app, interfere with how it runs, or try to reach data that is not shown to you.
Reports, removal and suspension
Anyone can report a person, a post or a message. We act on reports within 24 hours. Content in certain categories is hidden as soon as it is reported and stays hidden while we review it. If you break these rules, we may remove your content, suspend or close your account, and refuse to let you register again. We will tell you why unless the law prevents it or telling you would put someone at risk.
Messaging
Messaging opens only after an application to a trip has been accepted, or an invitation has been accepted. Messages are stored so the service can show them to the people in the conversation and so we can act on reports.
Meeting people
cubip introduces people who want to travel together. It does not vet them beyond the optional identity check, does not run background checks, and is not present when they meet. You decide whom to travel with, and you are responsible for that decision. Take the precautions you would take meeting any stranger: meet in public first, tell someone where you are going, and keep control of your own documents, money and transport.
Liability
The app is provided as it is. We do our best to keep it running and correct, but we do not promise that it will be available at all times or free of errors. To the extent the law of Taiwan allows, cubip is not liable for anything that happens between users, on a trip or otherwise, and is not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Taiwanese law, including consumer protection law.
Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time from Settings in the app. Deleting it removes your account and the content you have created. Some records may be kept for a limited time where the law requires it or to handle an open report; the privacy policy explains which.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms as the app changes. When the change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top is the date of the current version. Continuing to use cubip after a change means you accept it.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the law of Taiwan (Republic of China). Disputes are heard by the courts of Taiwan, without prejudice to any protection you have as a consumer under the law of the place you live.
