Privacy policy

Last updated: 20 September 2026

This policy explains what cubip collects, why, where it is kept, and what you can do about it. cubip is operated by an individual developer in Taiwan. You can reach us at support@cubip.com.

The short version: we collect what the app needs to work and nothing else. There is no advertising, no tracking, no analytics SDK, and we never sell your data.

What we collect

To sign you in. Your email address, or the relay address Apple gives us if you use Sign in with Apple and choose to hide your email. There are no passwords and we never ask for a phone number.

Your profile. Your display name, your home city (the city only, not an address), your birth year, your travel style, and the countries you have visited and wish to visit. Your gender is optional; it is used only to apply the gender restriction an organiser can put on a trip post, so that people who do not match never see the post.

What you share. Your travel records (place, dates, a few lines of text and an optional journal), the photographs you choose to add to them, your trip posts, your applications to other people's trips, and your messages.

Safety. Reports you make and blocks you set, and reports others make about you.

Identity verification, if you choose it. A photo of an ID document. It is stored in a private bucket, viewed only by the operator to confirm that the document matches your profile, and deleted after review. After that we keep only the fact that you are verified and the date.

We do not collect your location from the device, your contacts, or anything from other apps.

Photographs

Before a photograph leaves your phone, the app removes its GPS position and device metadata. There is no setting for this; it always happens. Photographs are stored in a private bucket and served through short-lived signed links, so they cannot be reached by a public address. For each record you choose who can see it: everyone, verified people, or people you have travelled with.

Why we use it

We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, and we do not share it with advertisers or data brokers.

Who sees it

Other users see what you have chosen to show them: your profile, your records at the visibility you set, your trip posts, and your messages in conversations you are part of. Messaging opens only after an application to a trip is accepted or an invitation is accepted.

The operator sees what is needed to run the service and to act on reports, including reported messages.

We use two providers to run the app:

Both process data on our instructions to provide the service. We do not give your data to anyone else, unless the law requires it or it is needed to protect someone from harm.

Where it is kept

Your data is stored in the European Union, in Frankfurt, Germany. You use the app from wherever you are, so your data travels between your device and those servers.

How long we keep it

We keep your data while your account exists. When you delete your account, your account and the content you have created are removed. Some records may be kept for a limited time where the law requires it, or to handle a report involving your account that is still open. ID documents sent for verification are deleted after review, whether or not the account is deleted.

Your choices and rights

If you are in the European Union or another place with a data protection law that gives you further rights, such as the right to object or to complain to a supervisory authority, those rights apply as the law provides.

Children

cubip is for people 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone younger, and we remove accounts we find belong to someone under 18.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app changes. When the change matters, we will tell you in the app before it takes effect. The date at the top is the date of the current version.
